Welcome to the first ever blog post by skein media.
Let keep this brisk (or try).
If you were given one opportunity to share/tell your life story, how would you communicate it?
Would you share using traditional text in story format?
There is nothing like reading a well written piece!!!!!! I believe that the art of writing is mostly lost in todays age; so sad : (. I have so much respect for great writers of the past and present. To me, good writing is an overlooked/under appreciated talent...I personally envy ALL great writers. Here is a great modern day writer - check her out. Amanda @ forgiveme-imblowingyourmind
Would you share your story through imagery?
"A picture is worth a thousand words." Images are a great medium! I know a handful of great photographers and their work is unreal. Many people overlook what makes a great picture...well...great. From the angle, focus, lighting and subject. All of these elements play a vital role in communicating a story and message. Cheers to those who make it happen. Check out these Delaware photographers who have all of the above. Kylene Cleaver , Paul Pruitt, Jessica Bratton.
Lets not forget the graphic designers. Wow. What a talented group. Could you imagine taking an idea, something as simple as a thought from nothing to creating a tactile piece of art? A piece of art that communicates a complex idea with ease. This unique breed of creatives spend endless hours pulling from imagination with no boundaries. All to create a piece that has more information and measurements than the blue print of the Guggenheim. Check out Tj Reighart - best in the business! (this link is not updated so your gonna have to take my word on his talents). This fella is also pure talent Nick Matarese.
Would you use video to tell your story?
Video combines all the above elements! From the writing of a clear & concise storyboard/script. Using photographs in motion. Using the the design of top creatives and implementing as special effects. Using sound either as natural or musical. Video is the human element. Our brains our uniquely wired to decipher all of the creative aspects of a video message/story. Video is sound, motion and emotion. Video is live. Video is powerful. Video moves.
Hope I dont sound biased but my choice is video. However the key elements mentioned above are crucial to making a well edited/produced film.
Whats your choice?
Moving forward consider the power of video when communicating and story. A story could be about you, a brand, a brand experience, a music video, a lecture... life is a story; capture it the way you see fit.
